We visited the council to put forward our submission. We talked with the mayor about why we believe Apiti should have a Community Recycling Centre. We look forward to hearing what they decide.

Recycling Centre Submission

Our aim is to get a recycling centre in Apiti. It will be available for anyone to use. We think this will be a good idea as it will help our community develop the recycling habit. Now recycling is difficult as you have to take your recyclables to Feilding or to Kimbolton, but this is only open once a week. If we have a mobile recycling centre in Apiti, it will be open 24 hours a day to everyone.

Could you please fill out this form for your family. Please say ‘no’ for question 8 and that you would like to use one. In question please tick option 4. This is for a mobile recycling centre in Apiti and blue bag pick up for non-recyclables.

We can put in our submission to the council.

Thanks for your support.

Recycling shed sort out!

Last Monday, the Apiti school seniors cleaned the recyling shed. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Beards, the Wilson-Bryants and Chrissy L who sorted and emptied the recycling shed for us. We had about four fadges full of rubbish. - By Chevelle.

Recycling & Rubbish Options

Kimbolton Transfer Station is open from 10 - 4 every Saturday. This is available for general rubbish and recycling. The students are clearing our school shed soon. We appreciate all cans as we sell these as a fund raiser.

May Reflection

Our recycling is going really well. Our recycling centre is a little messy. While we have been taking out the paper we have noticed that it is getting harder to keep the shed tidy. The worms are doing well. We have begun to collect worm wee to use as fertiliser. We are lucky to have Neil coming on the 22nd to help us pick up the paper and take it to a local recycling centre. We will clean our shed. Our next step is to redesign the recycling centre and get more bins so that it is more efficient. We are pleased that we have only sent out one blue bag to be collected for the last 3 weeks. - By Chevelle.

Recycling Reflection

Our recycling system is working well. Each day after lunch, Chevelle and I carry out two boxes of paper to the paper shed and put the paper in the bins. We do this to be eco friendly. Recycling means litter can be reused. The next step to recycling the paper is to take the bin to the Kimbolton or Feilding recycle centre. - Tom.
